Corn Chowder

Serves 6
2 tablespoons olive oil
4 tablespoons butter
1/2 cup bacon -- chopped
1/2 cup onions -- chopped
1/2 cup celery -- chopped
1/2 cup green bell pepper -- chopped
1 teaspoon basil
1/4 cup flour
2 cups milk
1 cup buttermilk
1 can whole kernel corn -- drained
1 can cream style corn
salt and pepper -- to taste
In a hot skillet add the olive oil, butter, bacon, onions, celery and bell pepper. Cook until bacon is browned. Add milk and buttermilk. Mix 1/4 cup of flour in 1/2 cup water. Mix until smooth, no lumps. Add the flour mixture and all the seasonings. Add the corn. Cook over medium heat for about 30 minutes
